Diablo IV — Patches 3.0.1 & 3.0.1a
Dates: April 27 (3.0.1) and April 28 (3.0.1a)
The Lord of Hatred expansion launched on April 28 and Blizzard pushed two patches in rapid succession to address launch-day issues. Patch 3.0.1 landed alongside the expansion pre-download with fixes for Holy damage from the Reprisal Monster Affix dealing more damage than intended, Fortress recasting disabling player movement on controller, and several quest progression blockers in the new Skovos region. Hotfix 3.0.1a followed the same day, fixing a critical loot filter bug that was hiding items with better aspect rolls than what players had in their Codex of Power — meaning some of the best drops were being filtered out entirely. War Plan re-roll cost display errors were also corrected. Launch queues hit 105 minutes on day one, but stabilized quickly after the hotfixes.

Fortnite — v40.30
Date: April 30, 2026
The third major update of Chapter 7 Season 2 arrived as a cleanup and quality-of-life patch rather than a content shakeup. The Cube Splitter SMG was added alongside custom matchmaking options for content creators. On the Star Wars front, Clone Wars-themed skins featuring Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano in their animated series looks hit the Item Shop on May 1 ahead of May the 4th celebrations. Bug fixes were extensive across every mode — Battle Royale got fixes for players teleporting under terrain when picked up mid-roll, OG got Chapter 1-accurate chest opening times and sniper scope reverts, and Festival mode received quality-of-life improvements to NPC and Vending Machine interactions. Rocket riding also returned in OG mode.

League of Legends — Patch 26.9
Date: April 29, 2026
Season 2 kicked off with Patch 26.9, bringing a significant overhaul to Role Quests. The penalty for CS, turrets, and plates outside your lane was reduced from -50% to -75% (decreasing to 0% based on quest progress), and the zone for earning Role Quest progress was broadened to better support roaming and responding to proxying. Champion balance touched a wide list — Teemo got bonus AD ratios on his E to open up on-hit builds, Udyr's AD ratios were redistributed across W and E to broaden his bruiser builds beyond just Q, and Zoe's Q damage and cooldowns were pulled back in exchange for a new cooldown refund mechanic on champion hits. Pandemonium Annie, Pandemonium Kindred, Demoncursed Vayne, and Prestige Pandemonium Shaco skins also dropped April 29.

Borderlands 4 — Major Update: Story Pack 1
Date: Week of April 28, 2026
Borderlands 4 got its first major post-launch content drop with Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned and the new Vault Hunter C4SH the Rogue. The update also introduced Shared Character Progression and raised the max character level to 60. Quality-of-life improvements included more frequent World Boss spawns, shorter wait times between World Events, and helpful tips for new activities. The download clocked in at approximately 20 GB across platforms. An NVIDIA driver improvement also eliminated the need to clear GPU shader cache on game updates for anyone running drivers version 590.xx or newer.

World of Warcraft — Hotfixes April 28, 30, and May 1
Dates: April 28, April 30, and May 1, 2026
Blizzard continued ironing out Midnight 12.0.5 issues with three rounds of hotfixes this week. The April 30 batch addressed Shaman-specific bugs including Jet Stream not removing snare effects from allies entering Wind Rush Totem's area and Stormstream Totem's initial healing not being affected by Mastery: Deep Healing. Farseer Ancestors not casting Chain Heal when dropping Stormstream Totem was also corrected. Additional class and quest fixes landed across all three hotfix days as the team works through post-launch stability.

Overwatch — April 28 Bug Fix Patch
Date: April 28, 2026
A targeted bug fix update addressing two issues — players being unable to jump while the scoreboard was open and Ramattra's ultimate playing louder than intended. This patch also launched the 4v4 Evolved limited-time mode, an all-Emre team deathmatch running through May 11. Replay codes were wiped with this update. This follows the larger April 23 balance hotfix from the previous week that adjusted Sombra, Hazard, Junker Queen, and Ramattra.

The Sims 4 — April 28 Hotfix
Date: April 28, 2026
A hotfix targeting issues that surfaced after the Marketplace launched on consoles. The Gallery sorting bug causing incorrect search results was fixed — no uploads were lost, but the filtering system was returning the wrong content. Console players who purchased Moola and didn't see it in their in-game wallet balance had the issue resolved on the backend. The repeating pack notification popup that fired every time console players started a new session was also squashed. A controller soft lock when opening an upload while the Gallery was still populating was corrected, and the missing 200 Moola tier on the Japanese PlayStation Store was restored.

What We're Watching Next Week
Diablo IV will almost certainly push more hotfixes as Lord of Hatred's first week shakes out. A major Sims 4 content update is expected in early May with 87 bug fixes on the docket. The Steam Controller launches May 4 — not a patch, but it's the biggest hardware drop of the week. And Mixtape from Annapurna Interactive arrives May 7 on Game Pass. We'll be back next Sunday with the full rundown.
This is a weekly feature on EarlyMeta. If no new patch notes drop in a given week, we skip it. Only current-week patches are included — no backfilling. Read last week's roundup here.
